For roll-always, it must still relativize, a good leather with an effective removable thermal lining will allow you to spend the winter without problem provided you do not leave a day in the rain or in the cold. We have personally used the same leather jacket for almost 15 years, and we use my motorcycle all year, not necessarily every day, but all year long. So we faced a lot of situations, even the snow, and after all that, we know that the next will be a leather again. Moreover after these 15 years of good and loyal service, mine finally begins to show signs of weakness, a good reason to change and make me happy again!
We come to the positives. The first is the holding in time. Well-maintained leather will last you for many years. A textile on the other hand, will see its appearance deteriorate over the years (past colors, outer layer damaged by the various friction, etc.), or will be good to throw in case of a fall. Leather meanwhile will keep its colors intact, just like its shape. And even if you come to fall and grate your jacket, it is quite possible to have it repaired by a craftsman who will make you reach cloud nine. As for falls, another positive aspect is the resistance to abrasion offered by leather. A leather jacket will resist slipping, while a textile, even reinforced leather bomber jacket will be much less effective from this point of view. It is not for nothing that the leather is used on circuit.
Choose the right size
- A leather motorcycle jacket should be properly adjusted to your body, so as not to float. We often hear that a leather will relax with use, it is not wrong, but the effect is still quite limited. In fact, it will soften and do to your morphology. Choose a jacket close to the body, but do not abuse anyway because the feeling will be different depending on whether you wear a big warm sweater underneath or a simple t-shirt.
- For my part, my jacket is a little tight in winter, because we install its removable thermal lining, and we put a big wool sweater. A little tight indeed, but not to the point of being uncomfortable on the bike and this is what is most important. In the summer, the jacket that was a little fair in the cold season seems wider without inflating like a balloon at the slightest wind. In any case, the difference with or without a lining, with or without a sweater, must be a matter of general ease, and not a question of trimming too much or too little.
To find out if your leather is properly adjusted, try to touch your shoulder blades or your shoulders with your arms. If this type of movement is a bit difficult, it is not a problem with new leather. On the other hand, it must not hurt or cut off traffic for the mens leather bomber jacket.
Regarding elbow and shoulder protections, they must be perfectly positioned. Generally, the elbow guards of the brown leather bomber jacket are adjustable in height, think about it during the fitting.
During your first outings, you will feel a little stuck in your jacket, but it will get better quickly.
